The game started with a bit of ice on the pitch and that could also have been the reason for our stiff start to the game. It took us a while to put passes together and because of that we conceded an early goal.
That’s all we needed to wake up and we restarted with fighting spirit! Hugo raising his level and dominated on the left wing, Jack led the resistance with his usual assertive nature on and off the ball whilst Alex also got involved with a great shot that unfortunately went straight at the keeper.
Ryan, Finn & Makism kept us compact in defence, which gave Jack more confidence to attack from the middle. Jack picked up a pass from the middle, ran with it to the right wing and crossed into the box for Hugo, who had made a brilliant run and smashed home the equaliser.
We stayed in the game with our heads up but an unfortunate lack of focus in defence during a free kick resulted in a goal; putting us 2-1 down at half time.
Half time changes gave Hugo a chance to continue his domination at centre mid, whilst Charlie came on to take over on the left. Finn came off and Mattie took over in his usual right back position.
We stared the second half positively… Hugo (aka Min Messi) dominated the middle with great decision making on and off the ball. Makism pushed his game up into another gear as he travelled with the ball upfield several times but struggled with an end product. Mattie solidified the defence once again with his usual do or die attitude. All these improvements gave us an opportunity to equalize and Hugo striking the ball from 30 yards with finesse gave us that all important goal! 2-2!
Our belief was strengthened as Arthur went on an incredible run, passing defenders and the keeper making it 3-2 to the Foxes! Game on with 15 mins to go.
We had more chances towards the end of the game! Having been plagued by last minute equalising goals this season, the last few minutes were edgy!
We conceded from a ball into our box which wasn’t handled, their striker surprised Jed with a long shot into the top right hand corner of the goal. 3-3
The end result definitely didn’t reflect the facts of this match. We dominated 70% of the game, again we had an inspired performance from Jack, Finn, and Mattie. I believe Makism had his best game to date.
Man of the match for us today was Hugo. He constantly troubled the opponents midfield!
Thanks to all the parents for attending todays match.
