In the beginning, the game was equal and we played mostly in the middle of the park. We showed good defending at the back and good combination play up front. In the 5th minute, we broke the deadlock as Ryan scored, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside.
The other team were pushing but we were very organised defensively and managed to push their attacks away. We could be looking for space a bit more, but instead we were losing the ball around the midfield area. The good individual skills and our defending organisation were preventing the other team from scoring. Teo was at his best, saving their shots whenever tested.
We had dangerous counter attacks on several occasions; one of which started with a long pass which found Ryan running away from the last defender, but the goalkeeper came out of goal to win the 1v1.
We had good chances and we completed some beautiful combinations but in the 26th minute they caught us on the counter-attack and managed to get their goal. We weren’t too disturbed and we continued to play well, although the first half did finish 1-0.
We knew that we were the better team and that if we keep playing together we can win the game.
From the beginning of the second half, we demonstrated our potential. In the 3rd minute, the opposition cleared the ball which Josh perfectly controlled around the half way line, he then dribbled past 2 midfielders, then dribbled past 2 defenders and finish with a great shot scoring a phenomenal solo goal to equalise the result 1-1.
We continued to be the better team on the pitch. We were looking for spaces and were asking for the ball, which lead to very attacking and aggressive play on our side demonstrating our domination in the game. In the 6th minute, Cody struck a great shot that went in between the legs and hands of their goalkeeper to stop just behind the goal line, but the referee didn’t give the goal as he wasn’t sure the ball had crossed the line.
Just the minute after, their keeper tried to clear a ball which Ryan controlled and put into the net to give us the deserved lead 1-2. The game continued the same way. They were defending, we were attacking. The midfielders were working hard to deny the space when we were defending and supported the strikers up top. Our attacks were relentless. They tried to organise counter attacks but our defensive organisation including the defenders and midfielders didn’t give them a lot of chances.
With the very few chances they had, Teo was there to keep the at bay and maintain our result. We could have finished this game with a third goal but couldn’t finish the chances that we created.
In the 20th minute of the game, Ryan scored again but the goal was disallowed unfairly once again. The last 10 minutes were intensive with both teams playing attacking football, defensively everyone tried his best and in the few situations they had, again Teo was there keeping the goal safe. Overall, great team play and team attitude and a deserved win at the end. Harrow Youth Boys U11 1-2 Foxes FC U11 Whites.
