We knew that this weekend we were up against a formidable foe – a team that swatted us aside 9-1 on the opening day.

Despite this fact, the Silvers were in good spirits as we looked to build upon our previous win against Harrow – but would have to do so without Remi, Gyan or Milo.

We lined up with Sasha in goal; Charles, Jonah, and Alex in defence; Flynn, Cameron, Ossian, and Lucas in midfield; and Georges up front.

Within minutes of the kick off, the Silvers were a goal down – the opposition were quicker to react to a loose ball in our box to slam home for a 1-0 lead.

The Silvers were doing well in defence by forcing the opposition attackers wide and to the edge of our box but two similar strikes from 20 yards looped over Sasha to the top corner and to give them a controlling 3-0 lead.

Despite the scoreline, the Silvers were not being outplayed – Cameron, Cash, Ossian, and Lucas all ventured into the opposition box and got good strikes off, which resulted in corners, but the ball was still not finding its way to the back of the net.

In the second half, we started well and Max who joined us for the day produced an exquisite moment where he glided past 3 players to reach the by line, where he squeezed the ball into the near post to pull a goal back and take the game to 3-1.

The response was terrific and we opened up a few more chances – twice, Georges was through on goal only to see his efforts saved or roll wide – so unlucky!

Finally, the opposition came back at us and turned the screw to add another 3 to their tally to finish the game with a 6-1 victory.

The result was not what we wanted but the improvements from the last time we played them were clear to see. Last time we played this opposition, we hardly created anything, this time we could have scored 4 or 5.

The hunger, focus, and determination again filled me with pride as did our discipline to keep fighting to the end regardless of the score line.

This week, my man of the match is Ossian, he worked his socks off up and down the wing and was never intimidated and was very cunning with the ball – playing it at the right times and running it at the right times. Wonderful work!

Thank you to everyone who gave their support in this tough challenge, I look forward to seeing you all next week!
