Today’s loss was a hard one to take and the score line of 4-2 was a little harsh. We started the game brilliantly and I could see the boys wanted to win. Chiswick youth are a great team, they play good football and are very physical. However, we matched them pound for pound and looked the stronger and more threatening team for most of the first half.

The game started off equally with both teams having chances but it was the Silver Foxes who made the breakthrough.

Chiswick then equalised with a powerful long range effort before scoring again to make it 2-1. The boys didn’t give up and put Chiswick under plenty of pressure. The equalising goal came from Harrison. He struck the ball beautifully from a corner and the power forced the goalkeeper to touch it into his own net.

The match still looked even up until the last few minutes. When Chiswick made it 3-2 the boys lost their concentration and panicked a little which lead to a fourth goal for the opposition. I believe the result doesn’t quite portray the game but the last two goals were preventable and only occurred due to a dip in concentration.

I’ll be working on defensive techniques and short passing next week as I think these were too areas that could have been better today, however the boys are due plenty of praise for what was nearly an all round excellent performance.
