I am pleased to announce that I will be travelling to Africa with the Grassroot Soccer Team, to represent Foxes FC and to be a part of their annual board meeting in order to learn about their work across Africa. I will be flying out on 5th of JuneĀ to Zimbabwe, continuing my trip to Zambia and flying back to the UK on the 12th of June. Grassroot Soccer was founded in 2002 by four professional football players in order to educate and stop the spread of HIV/AIDs through the power of football. It will be a valuable experience for myself to see first hand the impact GRS make to young children in Africa.

As I have never travelled to Africa before, it will be interesting to learn about the culture of football in Zimbabwe and Zambia as it is such a loved sport in the UK. At Foxes FC and the Little Foxes Club we have always strived to instil community spirit and good sportsmanship to all the children we work with, which has close synergies to the Grassroot Soccer core beliefs. As Grassroot Soccer will be launching new football programmes such as girls only football and the construction of the Football for Hope centre.

What I am most excited about is to meet GRS dedicated team of coaches and ambassadors, who educate children across Africa about healthy living through football. I will have several opportunities throughout the trip to play and watch football.

Please keep your eyes out on the blog and twitter and where I will be uploadingĀ videos, photos, and blog posts throughout the duration of my visit!
